Ty was born on October 31, 1980 in Detroit, MI. He was the second of four children born to the union of Jeanette Brown and Emanuel Young.
Tyuawn came from a musical family. His father is the blues singer, Emanuel Young, who played guitar for the Sweet Sensations musical group. He performed in approximately 20 shows with his father. They opened the Blues Gala together in Hart Plaza, Detroit, Michigan. The father son duo sang and danced in many nightclubs around Detroit metropolitan area. Tyuawn's sister is Val Young of the Mary Jane Girls. Val spent time mentoring Tyuawn.
Tyuawn displayed amazing talent with dancing as a child. He participated in local school talent shows around Detroit. His first performance was at Brown Past Middle School on August 30, 1993 where he received honors. He also worked with Benita Adams a local choreographer for about 5-6 years at McMichael School.
In 2004, Tyuawn was the lead dancer on television show called, "We Be Jammin'", on UPN.
The impersonation of Michael Jackson began as a dream Tyuawn wanted to carry out as a child. Tyuawn has a dynamic stage performance and has mastered Michael Jackson's signature dance moves. His soulful voice makes him a natural Michael Jackson impersonator.
Tyuawn became Detroit's own Michael Jackson on June 25, 2009 when the legendary entertainer pasted away. Tyuawn performed many tributes around the city in honor of Michael Jackson.
Tyuawn receives rave reviews wherever he performs. Some of the comments he has received are: "One of the best performances I'd ever seen," L.J. Reynolds of the Dramatics, "It's amazing, he dances like he's walking on air," Larry G of the Floaters. "Never seen anyone like him yet," Mason DJ 105.7 radio station. Most recently Tyuawn has been performing with Julian Pavone who has appeared on more than 100 television and news shows, including "The Oprah Winfrey Show", "Good Morning America", "Martha Stewart", "Inside Edition", "Good Company", "Japan TV", "The Maury Show", "Fox News Dayside", "MSNBC", "WGN", starred in a Korean documentary, and many others. He plays a 22-piece custom drum set with 17 cymbals and has received worldwide media coverage with more than 10,000 newspaper and magazine articles written about him.
