Julian's Background
“The World’s Youngest Drummer!”®
“The World’s Youngest Inventor!”®
"The World's Youngest Entrepreneur!”®
“The World’s Youngest Drummer!”® : Playing the drums while sitting atop his father's lap since the age of three months, this rhythmic child began keeping a steady beat in his mother's womb! He holds the Guinness World Record as “the youngest professional drummer” effective as of March 21, 2010, when he was 5 years, 10 months and 3 days old. Now, just 7-years-old, he plays a 22-piece custom drum set with 17 cymbals and a double kick. He plays rock, funk, fusion and jazz beats with his Vic Firth Signature Series sticks on ddrums, Sabian Cymbals and Sennheiser Microphones – all four companies having given him full artist endorsements! He also has an endorsement with Ful travel gear, FILA apparel and prefers Remo drum skins. His favorite artists and bands are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Chicago, TOTO, Rush, Earth, Wind & Fire, Miles Davis and Santana.
Julian is considered a musical prodigy by many. Joe Billingslea, who founded THE CONTOURS, likens Julian to a "modern Stevie Wonder" and thinks the kid has “serious soul”. He was offered a contract to be a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Drumline at age 15 months (the youngest member by 16 years!). Then, at 20 months, Julian recorded a CD, “Go Baby!”, with legendary bassist Ralphe Armstrong. Trapper Jack, from Cleveland’s radio station, WDOK 102.1, broke the story and Julian has been shocking audiences ever since.
“The World’s Youngest Inventor!”® : He invented and received a patent for Abracadabra® Stain Cover-up at age 4. At age 7, he received a patent for his invention, Julian’s Drum Gloves®.
"The World's Youngest Entrepreneur!”® : He produces his own healthy snack, Julian’s GO Bars®, has a signature sushi roll “Julian’s Drum Roll” (found at Umi Sushi, Macomb, MI.), and led to the formation of Harmonie Network (a national entertainment and music company).
MEDIA: More than 40,000 newspaper and magazine articles published about him worldwide.
TELEVISION: He has appeared on more than 200 television and news shows, including “The Oprah Winfrey Show” (twice), “Good Morning America”, “The Maury Show”, “Martha Stewart”, “Inside Edition” (three times), “FOX News Dayside”, “Good Company”, MSNBC, WGN, Japan’s #1 television show, “Amazing Stories” (twice) and on “Seriously Funny Kids” hosted by Heidi Klum. He has starred in a television show pilot, “Finding Julian’s Band”®, created by Rocky Seprino and had a documentary about him produced by Korea’s Seoul Broadcasting Systems. In addition, multi-award winning production company, WonderWorld Entertainment, signed him to star in and co-host the show, "All You Need Is Music", with Michael J. Powell (4-time Grammy Award winning producer).
PERFORMANCES: He has performed live on numerous radio stations around the world and at many concert venues, including the legendary Whisky A Go-Go, the Grammy Museum, House of Blues and Hard Rock Café (the youngest ever to perform at these venues). He has performed for the Detroit Pistons, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians, and Chicago Cubs.
AWARDS/HONORS: He has received numerous honors and awards, including the Guinness World Record as “The Youngest Professional Drummer”, “Maury’s Most Talented Kid” of 2009, “The 2007 Rock and Roll Lifetime Achievement Award”, and a Special Declaration of Tribute from the State of Michigan. He has been featured in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not” and appears in “Sticks ‘N’ Skins”, a photography book about the world of drumming, which includes legendary drummers like Buddy Rich, Ringo Starr, Neil Peart, and Tommy Lee and is on display at the Smithsonian Institute.
INSTRUCTORS/EDUCATION: Julian and his talent are being nurtured and supported by a tremendous group of instructors, including George Dunn (drums), William Winfield, III (drums), Dom Famularo (drums), Dennis Sheridan (percussion), Francesco Cavallini (voice, guitar) and Ralphe Armstrong (bass guitar). He also attends University Liggett School, a private, college-preparatory day school that is Michigan's oldest coeducational, independent school.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Julian loves sharing his gift with others, especially if he is able to help his community. He was named Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Honorary Goodwill Ambassador for 2009 and also served as The Miracle League of Michigan’s Honorary Goodwill Ambassador for 2009-2010. He has also partnered with Life Ionizers™ to support Dr. Craig Oster’s fight against ALS. He is currently serving as the Macomb-Oakland Regional Center's Global Ambassador to promote awareness of the talents and abilities of people with disabilities as well as their challenges and needs. He is also the youngest partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, joining celebrities such as Sir Paul McCartney, Justin Bieber and The Jonas Brothers to raise awareness for their cause.
